Need power at the bottom of the garden? We install safe armoured supplies to sheds, garages, hot tubs and garden offices, with the right protection and certification.
Safe power to garden buildings and outdoor projects
A garden office, workshop, hot tub, outdoor kitchen, or EV charging point needs proper power — not an extension lead snaking through a window or door. An external supply is a dedicated installation that's weatherproof, protected, and sized for the load. It's the difference between a temporary solution (risky, power-limited, poor quality) and a permanent, safe, capable installation you can rely on for 20+ years.
How it works
We run a cable from your house's consumer unit to the outbuilding, buried at safe depth (30cm+) in steel-wire armoured cable (SWA) — this protects the conductors if anyone digs, and keeps it waterproof. At the destination, we fit a small distribution board, sockets, lighting, and any dedicated circuits the equipment needs (a hot tub, for example, needs serious power). Everything is protected by RCD and correctly-rated circuit breakers.
Special cases: hot tubs and heat pumps
A hot tub runs 24/7 in heating mode and draws huge current — we design the circuit with 32A protection and proper load management so it doesn't overload your main supply. An air-source heat pump similarly needs a dedicated, properly-sized circuit. Both require consultation to get right; undersizing creates tripping/overheating, oversizing wastes money.
Cost and installation time
A basic garden office with one double socket and lighting: £1,200–1,800. A hot tub supply with dedicated protection: £2,000–3,000. A 2-circuit setup (sockets + lights): £1,500–2,200. Installation takes 2–3 days (digging the trench, running cable, testing, making good). We coordinate with your landscaping so the cable route doesn't disrupt other plans.
Safety and compliance
Every external supply is notified under Building Regulations and issued with a full Electrical Installation Certificate. We also provide a diagram showing the cable route and depth, so future gardening doesn't accidentally dig it up. RCD protection is non-negotiable — if someone touches a live part while wet, the RCD disconnects in milliseconds.
