Single-phase installations, repairs and upgrades for shops, offices and smaller commercial units — correctly designed, protected and certified.
Single vs. three-phase: choosing what you need
Most small commercial (shops, offices, small restaurants) use single-phase — adequate for lighting, computers, small kitchens. But adding machinery, large kilns, commercial refrigeration, or EV chargers can overload single-phase. Three-phase power lets you run larger loads more efficiently. We assess your needs and advise: can you upgrade single-phase capacity, or is three-phase the answer?
The upgrade path
Upgrading single-phase capacity: contact your DNO, they assess if they can supply more. If not, three-phase is the next step. Switching to three-phase: requires DNO approval, new supply cable, new board. Takes 2–8 weeks depending on infrastructure.
Cost and payback
Single-phase upgrade (increasing capacity): £500–2,000 DNO fees + our installation. Moving to three-phase: DNO cost varies, typically £2,000–5,000+, plus our board install (£1,500–3,000). Payback if it enables your business to operate properly: immediate.
