Whether it’s a full rewire or a phased upgrade around trading hours, we rewire offices, shops and hospitality premises safely and to commercial standards, with minimal disruption and full certification.
Commercial rewiring: scope and strategy
A commercial electrical system isn't just a scaled-up home installation — it's designed for continuous, heavy load, multiple users, and regulatory compliance. A rewire might be full (replacing everything), partial (new circuits in extended areas, upgrades to key sections), or phased (done in stages so you're never completely without power). The strategy depends on your building age, layout, and business criticality — a retail shop might need complete rewire in one 2-week blast; a factory might phase over months so production never stops.
Planning around operations
Unlike a home, you can't just close for a week. We work evenings/nights/weekends, use temporary power feeds to keep critical areas running, phase work in sections, and coordinate with your team so "power off this area" happens when you're genuinely idle. A retail unit might go dark 6pm-6am; a factory gets specific hours negotiated with shift managers.
What a commercial rewire includes
New main board: Correctly rated for your actual load (not estimated). Sub-distribution: Floor-by-floor boards in multi-storey buildings. Containment: Trunking, cable tray, and conduit (not just buried in walls — needs to be accessible for future changes). Circuits: Sized for equipment (office lighting, kitchen circuits, HVAC, machinery, EV charging). Documentation: Circuit diagrams, load schedules, schematic so future electricians know what's what.
Cost and timeline
Small commercial unit (shop/office): £3,000–6,000 for a full rewire. Large building (multi-floor, complex): £15,000–30,000+. Timeline: 2–8 weeks depending on size and whether you phased it. We provide a detailed programme showing what happens when, so you can plan staffing/trading around it.
Compliance and certification
Every stage is tested and certified. You get an Electrical Installation Certificate on completion, plus a full circuit schedule and schematic for your records. The work is notified under Building Regulations, required for insurance and property sales/leases.
Post-rewire support
Once live, the system needs periodic testing (usually every 5 years for commercial premises). We can take that on, so compliance is never an afterthought.
