Commercial LED Lighting Upgrades in Norfolk

Contact Us Today

The fluorescent era is over. Cut your energy bills by up to 80% and meet new UK regulations with intelligent LED lighting solutions.

Lighting is often the “low hanging fruit” of energy efficiency. In many commercial buildings, lighting accounts for 40% of the electricity bill. If you are still running old fluorescent tubes (T5, T8) or halogen high-bays, you are wasting money every hour your business is open.

At Yare Electrical, we specialise in Commercial LED Retrofits. We don’t just swap bulbs; we redesign your lighting infrastructure to improve staff productivity, safety, and profitability.

The “Fluorescent Ban” is Here

As of Feb 2024, the sale of T5 and T8 fluorescent tubes is banned in the UK. Spares are drying up. Upgrade now before your lights fail.

The ROI of LED: Why Switch?

The payback period for a commercial LED upgrade is typically 18 to 24 months. After that, the savings go straight to your bottom line.

  • Slash Energy Usage: A 600×600 fluorescent quad fitting uses ~72W. An LED panel uses ~28W. That is a 60% saving instantly.
  • End Maintenance Costs: Fluorescent tubes flicker, buzz, and degrade. They need replacing every 10,000 hours. Our commercial LED fittings are rated for 50,000+ hours (L70). That means zero maintenance costs for the next 10 years.
  • Climate Control Bonus: Old lights generate heat, forcing your air conditioning to work harder. LEDs run cool, reducing your AC load in summer.

Part L Regulations & Intelligent Controls

Under the latest Part L Building Regulations (Conservation of Fuel and Power), new lighting installations must be smart. We install:

1. Presence & Absence Detection

Why light an empty warehouse aisle or meeting room? We install microwave or PIR sensors that automatically dim or switch off lights when no movement is detected. In warehousing, this alone can save an additional 30% on energy.

2. Daylight Harvesting

Sensors monitor the ambient natural light coming through your windows. If the sun is shining, the artificial lights automatically dim down to maintain a constant lux level, ensuring you never use more power than necessary.

Sector-Specific Lighting Design

We use Relux/Dialux software to model your space, ensuring we meet CIBSE guidelines for illumination:

Offices (UGR<19 Compliance)

Glare on computer screens causes eye strain, headaches, and low productivity. We install UGR<19 (Unified Glare Rating) panels with prismatic diffusers. These direct light downwards, not sideways, creating a comfortable working environment that complies with Health & Safety (DSE) regulations.

Warehousing & Industrial

High ceilings require power. We install LED High Bays (150W+) with specific lens angles (60° or 90°) to punch light down to the floor. Crucially, these fittings are IP65 rated to withstand dust and moisture, and IK08 rated to survive impacts.

Retail & Showrooms

We use High CRI (Colour Rendering Index) lighting (>90 CRI). This ensures colours look true and vibrant—vital for clothing stores, car showrooms, and food retail.

Emergency Lighting Integration

While upgrading your main lighting, we also upgrade your safety. We install LED panels with integrated Emergency Battery Packs. These look identical to your standard lights but contain a battery backup to keep the light on for 3 hours during a power cut, ensuring compliance with BS 5266 without the need for ugly separate bulkheads.
